![]() I've really been into Yona of the Dawn lately, but same issue. I don't mind if it's not strictly a shoujo romance, but I'd prefer the romance to be the central aspect (or at least that they have a romantic scene at least once per episode). I hope you enjoy these! Let me know how these work out if you decide to pick any of them up.Įdit: Just remembered Game Over, which is short but pretty damn awesome. These are both anthology works, but you still can relate to the characters and enjoy the stories. I'll finish out with Salad Days and Sore wa Totsuzen, Unmei no Aite ga. Molester Man is a strange (not evil or anything) piece of work, but it's charming in its own odd way (there is no molestation). Indulging in the source material of an anime I recommended, Yamada-kun and the 7 Witches, also isn't a bad idea.Įmma is a well done period piece set in London. By the same mangaka but less "sweet" is her current work Domestic na Kanojo. GE Good Ending is the most flowery shounen you will ever read but it also meets your requirements. This is true to a greater extent in Kimi no Iru Machi, which I recommend you read at your own risk, but it does show the characters becoming a couple and them dating. The mangaka has also written a good work Suzuka, but it can meander at times even if romance occurs. ![]() Half and Half blossoms into love quickly, although it's different (in a great way). Slightly darker takes on the romance genre are Ever Green and Aku no Hana, although the romance doesn't bear fruit in the latter until later. They become a couple around chapter 18 IIRC, and while the manga isn't super dramatic, it's hard to not enjoy it. I'm glad to help! This might be a tad disorganized since I'm going through my lists, so bear with me. The two romance manga that don't have an anime adaptation I've already read: Hapi Mari and Wild Ones. ![]() I usually prefer anime, but I've been known to devour a manga or two. Lemme know if you wanna venture into manga territory. I too have grown tired of no progress in romance on the manga side, so I have quite a few series that showcase that. You mentioned anime, but if you're also open to giving manga a shot, I have a decent amount of recommendations there. I've really been into Yona of the Dawn lately, None of the characters are all that particularly unique, but the story is pretty unique in that the main heroine, is very genuine about her feelings early on, and they actually do get together and we spend a large part of the season watching them grow closer as boyfriend and girlfriend!Ĭan you recommend a good romance anime where the couple actually becomes a couple during the anime and we get to see some real progression in their relationship? This last fall I fell in love with the series Wolf Girl and Black Prince. curse you Nozaki-kun and your blockheaded ignorance to Chiyo-chans feelings!) Lately though, I've been getting fed up with all these romance anime where they tease the relationship but never become a genuine couple until the very end (or never. The humor is so shallow and cheap, and it ends up taking away from the romance aspect. Jigoku Shoujo (Not tagged as drama but in my opinion might as well be, especially emotional when it concerns certain episodes with animals.I'm a real fan of romance anime, I honestly hate most of the romantic comedies made in North America. (Very wholesome anime, mostly really chill and relaxing but i did tear up at some episodes, has good lessons.) Other anime that may not be solely drama but i highly recommend!ĭoukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue. Sugar Sugar Rune (Romance is more of a subplot and happens a little later.)ĭrama anime i highly recommend but that may not have any romance in them:Īi no Wakakusa Monogatari + the sequel Wakakusa Monogatari: Nan to Jo-sensei ![]() Kuragehime (Mostly is a comedy but highly recommended! One of only two anime to actually make me laugh out loud!) Inu x Boku SS (Mostly is a comedy but really resonated with me, i actually shed happy tears at it!) Other romance anime that aren't as dramatic as the ones above but i still highly recommend them!: Zetsuen no Tempest (Romance is a subplot) Mawaru Penguindrum (A roller coaster of emotions, may seem like just a comedy at first but gets really dramatic later, has some romance as a subplot too.) Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi (Romance is more of a subplot but everyone is in love with someone here!) Other anime where romance may be a subplot but highly recommended!:ĭonten ni Warau (Romance is a subplot and between supporting characters but very sweet!) Highly recommend these romance dramas as they have a similar (or more) intensity like Fruits Basket:
